First Visit
First Visit
If your dentist has referred you for a comprehensive examination, we will evaluate all of your teeth and the soft tissues of your mouth. A consultation typically takes about 60 minutes. Please complete all necessary forms, including your medical and dental history, prior to your visit.

Do I Need X-Rays?
For a complete periodontal consultation, we require x-rays, including a full-mouth series that allows us to evaluate the roots of your teeth and the supporting bone structure. If these are not available from your general dentist, we can arrange to have them taken before your examination.

What About Cost and Insurance?
Every patient’s needs are unique. Dr. Du will complete your examination and review treatment options with you so you can choose the best solution for your situation. Our financial coordinator will provide a detailed estimate of treatment costs along with an overview of your insurance benefits. If you have dental insurance, please bring your benefit information and ID cards to your appointment.

When Will I Return to My General Dentist?
Your general dentist plays an important role in coordinating your overall dental care. Our office works closely with your dentist to ensure a seamless treatment process. In many cases, you may continue restorative treatment with your general dentist during your periodontal care. It is important to maintain your regular dental exams throughout treatment. Once your periodontal condition is stable, we will transition you back to your general dentist for ongoing care.

Will One Exam Visit Be Enough?
In most cases, yes. However, additional diagnostics or consultations, such as CT scans for certain implant procedures, may sometimes be necessary. We aim to gather all relevant information upfront to create the most effective treatment plan. We understand your time is valuable and strive to make every visit as efficient as possible.
